 cute kitchen timer, it DOES work July 16, 2008
sure it's a bit expensive for a kitchen timer ... but it's very cute and it's Alessi.
When you set the timer, you need to first turn 360 degrees clockwise, past the 0 mark. Then turn back to the time you want to set on. (This is explained in the leaflet that comes with the timer .. but who reads the operating instruction of a kitchen timer anyway) I had omitted the first step when I took it out of the box and thought it was not working.
Eventually figured it out. The timer DOES work.

The company that sells and ships this item, FORZIERI, has very bad customer service. Getting a refund from them is near impossible. They don't refund shipping nor do they pay for you to return items. If your purchase is over $400 they keep 10% for restocking. I purchased the timer and it did not work upon arrival.
