Product Description
German Hardened Steel Blade will not rust or stain / SureGrip Handle for stability and control

Amazon.com Review
Branching out from its already successful cookware line, Anolon's Advanced collection features high-grade materials with substantial weight. This 3-1/2-inch parer is an essential kitchen knife for peeling, slicing, and trimming small fruits and vegetables. However, the smooth edge feels a little "sticky" when cutting through thicker fruit peels. Immediate sharpening on a fine steel is recommended before using the knife to bring its edge to a sharper and safer angle.

Anolon Advanced blades are forged from high-quality German carbon steel that resists rust and food stains. The stainless steel is ice-hardened for additional strength and longer edge retention. Blades are then polished with glass to produce an edge that is meant to be simultaneously sharp but smoother to the touch. Full tangs and a counter balance cap provide superior balance, while a rounded blade spine adds comfort during extended periods of prepping. Ergonomically-shaped handles with cushioned non-slip Santoprene padding offer a comfortable, secure grip--even when cutting with wet hands.

This parer comes with a tiny plastic tip to safely cover its point while resting on the cutting board between chopping tasks. A larger plastic sheath is also included to protect the blade during in-drawer storage. Anolon guarantees this cutlery under a lifetime limited warranty and, for proper maintenance, recommends hand washing and immediately drying knives. --Cristina Vaamonde

5 out of 5 stars Excellent knife   September 23, 2008
Excellent knife. I own 3 other Anolon knives, and for quality and price, they are unmatched.

Excellent service from Amazon too.

I love this knife. I use it for just about everything. I own all Anolon knives and wouldn't buy any other brand.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Knife   June 2, 2007

For the past 15 years I have been using a set of Wusthof knives that my husband purchased, with the exception of the paring knife, which he bent prying something open (sigh) and then tried, fairly unsuccessfully, to bend it back into position. Consequently, I have been using a five-inch paring knife but have never felt comfortable with the length. I treated myself to this knife, which for me is a fairly nosebleed price of $20 (including super saver shipping). I used it today as soon as I unwrapped it and have completely forgiven the cost. This knife weighs about double the Wusthof counterpart, has great balance, and is sure in my hand. I should have purchased this knife a long time ago and appreciate the point guard and sheath so that I can leave it out full time on the counter. November 16, 2007 update: This knife really paid for itself when I used it to prepare chestnuts for my turkey stuffing. Those shells are tough and have to be cross slashed on both sides prior to roasting. I have dreaded this part because my Wusthof blade was fairly lightweight, and I was constantly afraid of accidentally cutting myself. The Anolon knife does the job in about one-third of the time and cuts right through the outer chestnut shell. Now I am really impressed.

5 out of 5 stars A great value   March 23, 2007
I purchased this knife so I could have something to easily transport from my kitchen to other family member's kitchens, since it comes with a knife sheath. For the cost of the knife, it is a great value. It has a full tang and is balanced well. It's a very nice, moderately-priced knife, as are the others in the same collection.

5 out of 5 stars a rewarding splurge   December 22, 2004

None of my paring knives were very satisfying to me. My best was an Oxo, and those are sharp, but flimsy. I wanted a firm, solid little knife I could bear down on. I bought this on sale, and now find myself making up excuses to use it. It cuts effortlessly, and holds a sharpening. Even better, it balances ergonomically in the hand. Though the handle is covered in a non-stick plastic, the knife feels full tang under it. In fact, you can feel its solidity whenever you use it or pick it up quickly, as it resounds and vibrates from the tip, like a musical instrument. It's sleek design is appealing and modern. This is a versatile and elegant kitchen tool, and it also cleans up quickly.
