Product Description This American classic creates a triple-layer checkerboard cake guaranteed to astonish when sliced. Made by Chicago Metallic since 1924, the set traditionally has been used to celebrate holidays by changing checkerboard colors, such as strawberry pink and vanilla white for Valentine's Day. Instructions included. Dishwasher-safe. Three 9" x 1" nonstick aluminum cake pans and plastic batter ring.
Amazon.com Review If you enjoy wowing your friends and family with amazing cakes, you should seriously consider adding this Chicago Metallic checkerboard pan set to your cookware collection. Crafted from high-quality, noncorrosive metal and featuring a two-ply nonstick coating, the set contains three 9-inch round cake pans and a plastic batter divider. Just place the divider in a pan, pour two alternating batters (one dark and one light) into the three circles the divider creates, then remove the divider and bake. Stack the finished layers so the colors alternate. When your cake is cut, a luscious, three-layered checkerboard masterpiece will be revealed. The nonstick finish makes cleanup easy, and the pans are dishwasher-safe as well. If you choose to wash them by hand, though, use a nylon pad--rather than steel wool or abrasive cleaners--to protect the nonstick surface. This set comes with instructions and a recipe for chocolate-and-vanilla cake. --Marianne Painter

Very nicely made November 16, 2008 I haven't tried this probuct yet. But it is very nicely made. And fits all into one box, so it takes up very little space.
Not what I perceived... August 19, 2008 I mistakenly thought that the checkerboard pans could also be used separately as baking pans. WRONG. The pans are quite shallow and aren't as nonstick as one would wish. The actual checkerboard pan is ingenious though, but I care naught for such a cake and returned the pans. Also, upon shipment, all the pans were stuck hard into each other. It took some time to pull them apart.
More than a checkerboard cake January 12, 2008 I recently purchased 3 sets of these checkerboard cake pans. I baked 9 (half inch) layers to make a Praline Doberge cake. It came out wonderful. I love these little pans. They also are great to bake my biscuits in. I stack them for storage by putting a napkin between each pan (keeps them from sticking together)

I was very disappointed with this product. When it arrived, the pans were dented in and the plastic ring had one leg broken off. The overall quality of the cake pans was very cheap and flimsy. I returned them the next day and ended up finding good quality ones at my local Michael's craft store for $12.99. Think twice before buying this product and then decide otherwise.
Good pans! October 31, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I do love the checkerboard cake pans! The only thing i'd like is for them to have more than one plastic insert. I know, none of the sets do, but it's still a pain to have to wash it between filling each pan!
