Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
A sharp knife is the chef's best friend. A sharpening tool will keep them that way. Use this tool regularly and you need never injure yourself with a dull blade. It realigns the cutting edge.

Amazon.com Review
Sharpen your knives precisely to your own needs, just as professional chefs do. Edgecrafter's ultimate sharpening stone uses 100% diamond abrasives. To use, simply hold a knife at a 25-degree angle, and rub it in circles across the stone for a razor-sharp edge. The stone sharpens knives, chisels, and shop blades made of any material, including tungsten carbide, ceramic, stone, tool steel, and stainless steel. Diamonds don't wear, so no maintenance is required, and the surface will never become uneven. The stone has a precision hardwood cover and base with rubber feet for a secure hold. --Linda Dahlstrom

5 out of 5 stars If you want a sharp knife -- get it!   November 20, 2008
Have had a small cleaver that I like to use for general purpose chopping and cutting, but was never able to keep it very sharp, despite trying to use a sharpening rod kit. The missing piece was not using a stone, you can use either a traditional wet stone, or a hard surface (diamond) one. Since I didn't want the hassle of a wet stone, I opted for this one, and found it to be easy to use. The instructions tell you to try and maintain a 22.5 degree angle while sharpening, which they recommend you do by folding over a piece of paper twice, once to get a 45 deg angle and then once more, and using this from time to time to check your angle. Other than that, it's very straightforward and you end up with a very sharp knife.

5 out of 5 stars Good sharpener for the money   January 30, 2008
Reasonably priced and it does a great job keeping my chef's knife nice and sharp. Comes in a nice wooden case with rubber feet to keep it from sliding on the countertop.

I used this product as soon as it arrived to sharpen my "dull" steak knives. What a difference! They were as sharp as the day I bought them when I was done. The instructions were very clear and the process was extremely easy.

5 out of 5 stars Everyone needs it in the Kitchen   June 27, 2007

This is a great way to keep your knives sharp. The instructions for sharpening are a bit complicated, so I watched some "tutorials" on the Internet before using the stone. It works well and is attractively packaged in a wooden case, the bottom adheres to your counter when you use it. It's great to see and feel the difference between dull and sharp.

Oil is not reqired before sharpening, and does a quick job on our kitchen knives.
