good toaster April 9, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Good toaster, accommodated different breads great, sandwich keeper (purchased separately) was a plus. I am purchasing a second one, I don't recommend cat knocking it off counter onto slate floor, of course it cracked, plastic sides. But I liked it well enough to purchase exact replica.
Terrible Toaster February 21, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The only thing good about this toaster is the looks; therefore, the one star pertains to the form, not the function!!!
I should never have bought a toaster based on it's looks, but I did. This toaster burns the outside edges while leaving the middle untoasted. I can't seem to find a perfect setting and am hoping there is a "break in period" as I no longer have the packaging and therefore don't know if it's returnable.
I would not buy this product, it's not worth the $120.
BIG LET DOWN May 6, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I had high hopes for this toaster. I thought that by spending big bucks I would get a quality product. Not so. It toasts my heavy whole wheat bread more quickly on the lowest setting, compared to my old cheap toaster. But it is very uneven. White breads and poptarts are burned on the lowest setting. If you try this product be sure to save all the packaging so you can send it back. It's pretty but definitely not worth the cost.
Dualit 4-Slice is an excellent buy. March 28, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I retired my 20-year-old Dualit and purchased another toaster which did not work at all well. After a few weeks of frustration I had had enough.. I then purchased this Dualit Lite 4-Slice (soft touch red) and couldn't be more pleased. It has toasted each and every item to perfection. Sourdough bread, long, oval slice, toasted evenly from end to end. Bagels and English muffins benefitted from the bagel setting, toasting more on the cut side, as advertised. Frozen waffles need only one cycle at the #8 heat setting. (Usually takes two cycles in other toasters.) It cleans easily and the crumb tray is a cinch to clean. All in all, I am extremely pleased with this toaster. It lives up to my expectations of a Dualit appliance.
Fabulous toaster!!! Definitely a thoroughbred! February 19, 2005 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
Let's see...in the long toaster category I've owned a Bosch, a Cuisinart, a Krups, a Tefal & a couple I've forgotten. Before that were the short models which I don't like because I like to toast wide slices of sourdough, rye & farm breads.
Also bagels & let me tell you if you're a toasted bagel afficionado, you should love this unit because it has a feature that lets you toast the inside of the bagel while heating the outside to just a gentle crispness. Terrific!
Another great feature is that if you put in a piece of bread that's too small to stick up out of the top of the toaster, you can lift the lever to raise it out of the burnt fingers zone when it's done.
The controls are minimal but precise & well-designed. I love the look of this guy too as I collect 40s & 50s plastic radios & it fits right in. A couple of knobs on the front & it would go on the radio shelf!
Now I just hope those new-fangled elements they put on all new toasters last longer on this one.
