Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review Pomona has been one of Portmeirion's most popular dinnerware patterns since its introduction in 1982. Aptly named after the Roman goddess of fruit, the design by Portmeirion founder Susan Williams-Ellis draws upon historic illustrations of fruit, many of which are heirloom varieties rarely seen today. Each piece of brilliant white ceramicware is rimmed with a garland of tiny green leaves and showcases a different ripe fruit specimen on a leafy sprig. Look for these in this 12-piece set: Teinton Squash Pear, Roman Apricot, Hoary Morning Apple, Grimwoods Royal George Peach, Reine Claude Plum, and Late Duke Cherry. Included in this Pomona starter set for your buffet are four 10-inch dinner plates; four 8-inch salad, sandwich, or dessert plates; and four 6-inch oatmeal bowls, which are also ideal for ice cream and fruit with yogurt. Any piece can be used to store leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer, may go into a cool oven and be slowly warmed, and can safely heat food in the microwave. The cheerful, timeless pattern durably suits everyday use as well as special occasion parties, and slips right into the dishwasher for clean-up. Add other pieces with different fruits as you go, creating your own distinct table. Pomona is a quite extensive Portmeirion collection, comprising tableware, serveware, cookware, giftware, textiles, and more, all of which make excellent gifts. --Ann Bieri What's In the Box 4 place settings. Each place setting consists of: 10-inch dinner plate; 8-inch salad plate; 6-inch oatmeal bowl. 12 items total.

CAN YOU IMAGINE THE DISHES SOAK? so many defects!!! October 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received pomona. I was very excited. When I opened the box, the packing was perfect. However, there are so many defects on the back of the oatmeal bowls and salad plates. Not well coated and tiny chips with coating! Water goes into the non-coated parts so the dishes soak!-.-;; I am very diappointed with both amazon and portmeirion! They sold products without any worth.

I hesitated a lot between botanical garden and pomona. All my friends have botanical garden so I couldn't compare. when I got, I loved it. They are so beautiful and durable. I am going to collect all of Pomona.
