Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review Inspired by 19th-century botanical illustrations, artist Susan Williams-Ellis has created a truly unique mix-and-match collection for Portmeirion. Designed in 1972, Botanic Garden features more than 30 different floral and butterfly designs, with new designs joining the collection on a regular basis. Each scene has been painstakingly reproduced by hand with every detail beautifully rendered. Butterflies flutter about, flowers bend in the breeze, and a distinctive leaf border can be found on each item in the collection. This 12-ounce Staffordshire jug has a very distinct handle and is the ideal size for serving milk or cream. Forget-me-nots and butterflies adorn the outer bowl, while the signature leaf pattern borders the mouth of the vessel. Five other decorative flower motifs, including the daisy, cyclamen, speedwell, rhododendron, and boxed leaved milkwort can be found on the Staffordshire jug. The Botanic Garden collection incorporates a full line of coordinating table settings, bakeware, serving items, and giftware. Made in Britain from high-quality earthenware, each tableware piece is safe in the dishwasher, microwave, oven, and freezer. --Lea Werbel

12 ounces, I don't think so! June 5, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Lovely jug, beautiful shape. Good for safely serving 8 oz. of liquid, but not the 12 oz. that the description implies. What a surprise when I opened the box and saw the size!
More like 8-ounces! June 5, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This jug is beautiful, like all Botanic Garden. BUT the item description of "12-ounce capacity" led me to believe that 12 ounces of liquid could be served from the jug. Not the case. To the decorative lip inside, this jug holds 8 oz., not 12. Adding another 1/2 cup of liquid to reach 12-ounces would make it impossible to actually pour neatly from this piece. If you're aware of the true capacity, perhaps you won't be as disappointed as I was by this jug's size - or lack there of!
