Amazon.com Review
Enjoy a steaming bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup, or spicy Chicken Phad Thai with this stylish yet functional bowl set from Joyce Chen. It includes two large bowls, two sets of chopsticks, and two large soup spoons for Asian cuisine. The lovely set would make a great gift for a recent college graduate or a charming wedding present.

From Joyce Chen's Black and White Collection, the bowls are made of durable stoneware. Their thoughtful design even provides enough depth to prevent red curry splatters. Each bowl also has two parallel grooves on the rim for cradling chopsticks when not in use. The wide ceramic spoons scoop plump wontons and dumplings with ease, while chopsticks are great for spearing morsels of greasy sweet and sour chicken or untangling a mouthful of yakisoba noodles. The entire set is dishwasher-safe and weighs 3 pounds. --Jessica Reuling

5 out of 5 stars good stuff   August 26, 2008
Saw something similar at our local art museum shop and we were intrigued. We eat ramen fairly often (we were cheap mac & cheese kids in our salad days, so we didn't burn out!). This is a convenient size, and adds just a little styleto the meal. Not too light, sturdy enough, though we haven't dropped one yet.

4 out of 5 stars Poor packing center, maybe?   March 7, 2008

I received my set of bowls today, and I was extremely fortunate that they arrived alright. As many others have said, they were very badly packed. The manufacturer's box (which had the sets securely bubble wrapped, thankfully) was kicking around in a huge shipping box, filled with two partially deflated air pillow-packs. As my UPS delivery person handed it to me the shipping box tilted, and I heard the box inside thud gently against one end of the larger container, and thought "oh no!" UPS here is wonderful, and I think most of the reason it arrived in good condition is because it wasn't shipped by mail. Mine came from Las Vegas - perhaps the Las Vegas packing department is the problem?

The bowls themselves are as pretty as they are in the pictures. They do, indeed, conduct heat very well - they're not suitable for carrying around as you eat, but for table use they're great. The chopsticks are lightweight and probably won't last forever, but I like them just fine. They certainly made our ramen and nori luch look fancy today.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Set of Bowls   December 28, 2007

I bought these bowls as a Christmas gift for my two sons, ages 12 and 14. The bowls, spoons, and chopsticks are very nice items. The bowls are an excellent size for noodles, and they have a nice weight to them. The spoons have a good feel in your hands. The chopsticks are a bit cheap feeling, but they look nice and they do the job. Both of my boys loved their gifts, and I am very pleased with the purchase. I would definitely buy these again if I knew someone who would like this type of gift.
