Amazon.com Review
Reach for this big and handsome Le Creuset oval dish to cook up roasts, whole birds, and Super Bowl-size veggie casseroles. Crafted from durable stoneware, the 5-1/3-quart piece distributes and retains heat beautifully, and its handsome, nonporous enamel surface makes for easy serving and washing. Heavy-duty for years of use, the piece is impervious to lingering odors and does not stain, chip, or craze with normal wear. Its sides are comfortably deep, and the flared rim makes for confident carrying and serving.

One of the reasons Le Creuset stoneware is so popular is that it is designed for simplifying the steps from prep to cleanup. Use this dish to marinate in the fridge, bake in the oven, reheat in the microwave, and store in the freezer--everything but cook on the stovetop. Measuring 10-3/4 by 15 inches, the baker comes in several lively colors with contrasting neutral interiors. Coordinating Le Creuset ramekins, loaf pans, and pie plates are also available. --Emily Bedard

1 out of 5 stars We got ours broken   December 29, 2008
We had this in our wedding registry and we got it broken. It was very poorly packaged, just some thin cardboard between the dish itself and the lid.
We got a certificate for the amount, and I would really like to order another one, but I am afraid it is going to come broken again. More, we have to pay again $30 for shipping and, who knows how it will come again.

I cannot really rate the item, since I was not able to use it. If I get it next time I order it (and it seems like a great dish for a big party), I will rate it again.

5 out of 5 stars Le Creuset 5.3 Quart Oval Dish   May 31, 2008

What can I say...it's a Le Creuset! I bought this for my friend and she absoluetly loved it. She said she is going to make something in it and bring it to a potluck. It looks like $100.00 pan.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   May 25, 2008
I have three Le Creuset cast iron "ovens" of various sizes, but this is my first "covered" stoneware piece. I know my large family will be eating many meals baked in this dish. It was large enough to cram two large chickens into it, and they came out extremely tender and not dried out. Delicious. I also anticipate using this for potlucks, since it can hold a lot of food, yet still looks great on the table. Because the top is raised, it actually holds more than a similar-sized dutch oven. I couldn't have prepared two large chickens in a similar-sized dutch oven, for example.

And, of course, it was so easy to clean!

2 out of 5 stars Le Creuset made in Thailand!   May 11, 2008

Ordered this item back in April as a Mothers Day gift for my wife as an addition to her Le Creuset set. The box was not opened until today (Mothers Day). My wife brought to my attention that the bar code label indicated it was made in Thailand and that it was "stoneware", not cast iron. At first we thought it might be a "knock off" since neither my wife or myself realized Le Creuset was made of anything but cast iron (I ordered it and am not a Le Creuset expert since the add on Amazon did say "stoneware"). So, after figuring out that the item was most likely a genuine Le Creuset product we felt better but will be wary of low prices for otherwise expensive products...to be honest I figured it was a clearance item was price to "move" and didn't take the cast iron vs. stoneware into account. The product is fine and my wife is happy since...it's the thought that counts but as I said, I'll pay closer attention to low prices in the future.
