Made of very durable plastic. Cake corer sold separately makes creating the center holes for stacking easy.  Great Cupcake display December 1, 2008
This is a high quality cake/cupcake stand. Very easy to assemble and very sturdy.
It has "lace like" edges so it also adds a decorative element to the display.
Highly recommend this product.

Over all, nice strong product. However, in the discription, it says columns are 6 1/2 inches high, this is VERY misleading but also correct at the same time. The plates are part of that measurement, which I was not planning for. So, there are only 5 inches inbetween the plates- doesn't help when the cake is 6 inches high...

Finding a cupcake stand for a wedding can be tough and lets face it, renting is $$$. Aside from some of the other reviews on the page I bought it for a wedding display. It was perfect! I can see what people maybe confused about this product but I was able to see beyond them. First off it is easy to put together and apart. Please take note it is plastic and it comes with a lace pattern around each plate. I know others have bought this for cupcake unsure of how many it will hold. I say about 125-150 will do well, anymore would be overload.
If your plan is to us this a few times for weddings and parties, go for it. If you are a baker looking for a weekly use, best make your own with wood.

I bought one of these stands and made a beautiful cake for my nieces wedding - used it only once, wanted to use it this year for brides who wanted cupcakes but IT HAS TURNED YELLOW! Wilton told me to soak it in a solution of dishwashing powder and bleach for a few hours and then scrub it. I soaked it for days and scrubbed it three times STILL YELLOW. Consider this stand disposable and buy it only if you want to use it very little and throw it away because that is what will happen.

I bought this to use for a bridal shower, we did cupcakes but the layers were like 6 inches apart so it did not work for cupcakes. Plus for the price that you paid I felt that it looked a little cheap.
