Product Description Cleaning your indoor grill has never been so easy since the creation of the IKON removable plate grill. The three non-stick plates (two ribbed, one flat) are dishwasher safe. They lock firmly into place and are removed with the touch of a button. The top plate can be adjusted to six pre-set heights. On the lower settings, this unique patented features reduces the weight pressing upon more delicate foods. The higher settings are ideal for making open melt sandwiches or re-heating. The adjustable tilt feature controls the angle of the grill. An 1,800 watt element allows this grill to heat up very quickly. Another feature is the variable heat control from 350 - 425 degrees so you can make panini's or sear meats. The brushed stainless steel exterior is easy to clean with a soft cloth.Features Include:The nonstick, removable plates are dishwasher safeThe ikon grill has 800-watts of heating power, 20% more than other indoor grillsThree plates are included, one ribbed and one flat

So far, so good October 11, 2008 We bought this grill from Bed, Bath and Beyond a few weeks ago and haven't had any problems with it so far. We have used it almost daily to make paninis (that was the main reason we got it) and it does a beautiful job. The green ready light is a little hard to see but in light of how well it works (so far) I'll take that. In short, we totally dig it.
Dead after three weeks! September 10, 2008 It took me a while to finally decide on this model of Panini grill and was okay with it for the three weeks that it was operative with the exception of some issues. One problem was the top grill popped out quite easily and at one time fell off on my hand while I had the grill open and was placing food on the bottom grill. Talk about a major safety issue! The second issue is that the "ready light" indicating that the grill is hot and ready to be used never turned on. Of course, the third and final problem is that the grill actually stopped working after three weeks as I mentioned earlier. I will be returning this immediately and hope that there are no problems and I get my money refunded.
price questions September 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just discovered that this very same grill (same model number) is available at Bed Beth & Beyond for $99 -- and it's not listed as a sale price. Generally the prices here on Amazon are really good, so this really surprised me. I'm wondering if I should return this to Amazon and get the one that's $50 less expensive.
How to become an instant chef sensation! September 2, 2008 i am a novice cook of the most backward variety, knowing only how to boil eggs with difficulty. recently forced into learning how to make food for my family including my kids, i bought this grill. I tell not a lie when i say that my chicken is as good or better than anything i have ever tasted, thanks to good sauce purchases, & good chicken of course. My kids love the food. I am even gaining in confidence & trying my own seasoned oil varieties. Burgers, french fries, sausages are also excellent. Steak a little trickier. I think the heat levels, a little higher (1800 v 1500) than the majority, & the larger size make a substantial difference. The tilt feature allows the oil, fat to drip down, enabling a cleaner wash. Further, it seems well built, stands on its side which is v space efficient, & the grill plates wash well in the dishwasher. Looks nice too. Criticisms, which do no affect cooking, limited to inability to lay top flat to make double size, & the holes in the undifferentiated top & bottom grill plates, which allows staining of the top underlying metal (the bottom hole is for the drip try) - but its not noticeable.
I would buy a larger size were it to have removable plates & the higher power, which as yet they arent. Truly a wonderful grill.
Fancy looking Junk! August 27, 2008 I purchased the Breville Ikon grill about one month ago at Bed bath Beyond store. After using the grill for about three weeks the plate would sometimes fall off of the top half. This was horrible because it was extremely hot and very difficult and messy to put back on. Now the very disappointing part. Last night I plugged the grill in, after waiting for 15 min I found the grill to be ice cold. I was glad I kept the box and receipt and returned this piece of junk. I had a George Foreman grill before that and that also died. It is really a shame that mostly everything made now is a piece of junk, guess I have to go back to the old cast iron pan.
