Amazon.com Review Invented at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, this rapid beverage chiller is billed as the fastest way to cool canned or bottled drinks. The Cooper Cooler is able to accommodate containers of all sizes, from wine bottles to soda cans to plastic juice bottles and is said to chill wine 20 times faster and soda cans 90 times faster than the refrigerator. An easy-to-use touchpad lets you set the cooler to preset chilling times for bottles, cans, or wine and has an "Extra" button for folks who want drinks chilled to ice cold (34 degrees F). Also the fastest way to warm beverages, this appliance is great for heating baby bottles evenly without destroying any nutrients or warming red wine bottles that have been stored at cellar temperature. Our tests on a bottle of warm sparkling cider produced a cooled-down beverage in a brisk 3-1/2 minutes. Drinks rotate as they chill for a more consistent temperature but shouldn't jog or explode carbonated beverages. However, contrary to the Cooper Cooler's claims, our bottle did fizz over when we opened the cap. Choosing the "No Spin" option on the touchpad will ensure that carbonated beverages aren't overshaken. The Cooper Cooler is great for parties or for use in an office kitchen, RV, or boat and is covered by a 1-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde
Product Description This trademarked system was invented at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. It's fabulously convenient for parties, house guests, tailgate parties, campers and RVs, boats, dorm rooms and office kitchens. Basically you add ice and water, then your bottled or canned beverage. A can of soda will take about a minute to chill and a bottle of wine about six minutes. You can chill using the spin method (for cylindrical beverage containers) or the spray method. The removable lid cap allows almost any size bottle to be chilled in the Cooper Cooler. If you should happen to need to warm baby bottles just put hot water in the Cooper instead of ice and water.

After two years of moderate use our Cooper Cooler continues to chill perfectly. Mostly we use it for wine. It's a great conversation piece as well. If there is a downside I would say that it could be slightly larger because not all wine bottles fit.

I wanted a mountain dew one day but it wasn't cold enough. I pull out my cooler and WOW it cooled it off. My husband wanted a Pepsi one day but it wasn't cold enough. I pull out my cooler and WOW it cooled his Pepsi. Wow this thing is amazing. I would just sit there staring at it in amazement. WOW!!!
Almost Perfect December 22, 2004 3 out of 12 found this review helpful
There were so many different Cooper Cooler systems, and none directly reflected the one I bought (although all were more expensive) that I chose this to review as it had the most comments, and looked like the one I bought.
One review that I read said that the editorial failed to mention adding ice cubes to the unit. Uh, HELLO? How in the world do you expect a bottle of wine to get to ice cold temperatures without adding ice? There is no product on the market today (sadly) that will "freeze" an object. There are units that *CLAIM* to bring a wine down to a cold drinking temperature, but none of them work. I've tried them. The only way that you're going to get a bottle of wine cooled quickly is (for now) with a cooling system that uses ice.
Upon adding the ice, as is detailed in the directions, you get a perfectly chilled can of soda or bottle of wine (which are the only reasons I use the unit). If you want the bottle of wine to be refrigerator cold, you set it a certain setting; if you want it to be freezer cold, you set it to "extra".
This unit WORKS. Exactly as advertised. If you use it wrong, or if it doesn't work for you, then you need to reread the instructions. They're written in language that third graders can understand, so it shouldn't be too difficult.
One other thing: cans of soda, or beer, don't suffer here. If you open a can after having it intensely rotated for a minute or two, it won't explode in your face. And it won't "bruise" wine. That's worth the price of admission alone.
My only complaint would be that I wish it were easier to clean. Aside from that - it's a lovely device, and I'm quite perplexed at the negative reaction to my 5-star review.
Great!! July 13, 2004 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
This thing is amazing. It saves me so much space in the fridge. The only thing I hate is when I put wine bottles in it. Often I forget to write down what wines I have. When I forget to put the cooler on no spin it kills the labels. However this is entiresly my fault. I would tell anyone to buy this cooler.
Chills better than the competition December 6, 2003 14 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have been looking for a product to chill my wine and beer fast for a long time. We just don't have the room in our refrig. to keep all our beer and wine. I have bought a Peliter chiller before, but they did not work. They never chilled my beverage cold enough. I bought this item because their website was specific about what temperature it can chill beverages to. When I received it and tried it on my beer and wine, I was shocked to see that it really chilled it ice cold based on the setting. If you want a cold beer or glass of wine and you do not have anything chilled, your options are to wait a long time in the refrig. or freezer (because you don't want to add ice to your beer or wine) or add some ice and water to the Cooper Cooler and have a drink within minutes. The Cooper Cooler is easy to use because all you have to do is press the button for what you are drinking and the machine does the rest and shuts off when your drink is cold. This machine solved our problem.
