Intricate and romantic, Churchill China's Chelsea Blue Willow dinnerware is based on a legend of two star-crossed Chinese lovers. Crafted with comfortable proportions, the dark blue and white pattern features intricate double borders with geometric detailing for a fabric-like visual texture. The central imagery depicts a Chinese landscape complete with bridges, a river, trees, and houses. Two doves--reincarnations of the fugitive lovers--hover above the scene. Churchill China adds a slight sculptural waviness to the borders of plates and bowls and the bodies of teacups for light-catching effects.  Not made in ENGLAND June 3, 2008
I expected they were not made in England for the price and I really do not care BUT would prefer it, AMAZON needs to take that off the page. I have a lot of Churchill thats made in England including completer pieces from this set.
Ok....the transfer on all the dishes was fine except the side plates, they were all blurred (I got 2 sets of 20). I find this on many antique or vintage pieces as well. NO chips or cracks in shipping.
I collect Blue Willow antique china and have over 200 pieces from different makers, I always wanted some just to use.
Nice weight to the pieces, great for everyday use which is why I got them.

I read the reviews before buying and it seemed hit~or~miss with the dishes. Both sets I ordered arrived in great shape! Nothing was broken, which really surprised me. NO runny paint jobs. I love my dishes. And I don't care where they were made as long as they are nice...and both sets are NICE!!

 Tested Positive for LEAD December 28, 2007

I bought these dishes at Ross 2 years ago. I really loved them for everyday dishes. Last week, I saw another review on Amazon, saying that her dishes tested positive for lead! I bought a lead tester and sure enough, this morning the dishes tested positive for lead in the glaze.
We are shocked and devastated! I am getting rid of the dishes, of course. Lead is a very poisonous substance.
I went and bought 12 white dishes from Pottery Barn this afternoon. I'm going to test them too! I am disappointed that Amazon is selling dishes with lead leaching from the glaze.
