Product Description Professional mixer in elegant design. With 525W power, 3 to 5 speeds for fineness control and large capacity jug it can make tall drinks, fruit purees, shakes, and sorbets in seconds. Even frozen drinks are ready in no time, since its sharp blades can cru
Amazon.com Review This appealing blender looks great, with a rounded triangular shape that marries form and function. It pours perfectly and cleans beautifully, but what we noticed first was the terrific grip on the handle: firm and comfortable, like a great handshake. The lid is also well designed, sealing easily and snugly, with tiny rubber tips attached on three sides to facilitate a smooth release and opening. This blender packs a lot of power, pureeing in seconds and turning eggs and oil into mayonnaise in fewer than two minutes. Five speeds let you whip up everything from chunky salsa to velvety soups; there's also a pulse mode when you need an extra surge to add solids or give something one last stir. As a bonus, this blender looks great on the counter or stores easily in two parts in the cupboard. --C. Whitney-Ward Editor's Choice:Braun's PowerMax blender is an ideal first blender--not too expensive and still heavy-duty enough for many blending tasks--and is our pick for best blender under $50. It has five speed settings and a pulse feature. The blades are made of stainless steel, which makes them strong enough to crush ice (don't pack the ice too tight, though), and they remove easily for cleaning. The blades, jug, and lid go in the dishwasher, while you wipe the base by hand with a damp towel.

served me well for MANY years December 1, 2008 I recently went online to look for a replacement carafe for this model - the second carafe I've replaced in the model's lifetime and was surprised at all the negative reviews. I'm not sure if the newer versions have been made more cheaply or not, but I have had my blender now for well over 10 years and have never had a problem other than having to replace the carafes because of breaking them through my own clumsiness. It lives on my countertop and sees ample use and I have never experienced a problem. And I have used the machine on a regular basis, making smoothies, crushing ice, pureeing soups, blending dressings. As for replacing the o-ring, I never have had to and have never had any leaks, but I also wouldn't consider cleaning rubber in the heat of a dishwasher a smart move. I hand wash all parts.
Do Not Buy This Blender -- It Will Break October 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a powerful blender, but it will likely break within a year of purchase.
Consumer reports gave it high marks, but a few months later published a sidebar in which they said that the small white plastic drive mechanism will break. This is a very fragile, delicate gear thingy on the bottom of the blade assembly.
This happened to me three times. Each time I was able to convince Braun to send me a free replacement, but it took a lot of arguing once the warranty period expired. I can't believe that they haven't created a stronger part. If you can't get it for free, they will charge you $24 for a new base. They won't sell you just the little white part that breaks.
Here's how it breaks: if you remove the blender jar assembly while the motor is still spinning, it will probably break. You may think that is easy to avoid, but it's not. For example, if you are cleaning it using water and soap, the motor spins for a while after you shut it off.
It can also break if something jams. When you call to get a replacement part, they will tell you never to blend frozen berries.
I finally gave up, and purchased an Osterizer blender for $2 at a garage sale, and while this isn't as strong as the Powermax, I'm sure it will last a lifetime.
Strike two. Cheap plastic parts that wear and break (and you can't fix that) October 13, 2008 Braun MX2050 Jug Blender We have had two of these blenders from Amazon. When new I rated it good. But over a year the first jug lost plastic teeth. The second blender after 13 months of a lot of home use broke. The plastic turning gear on the machine spins uselessly. The motor works great but the plastic assembledge of the machine and plastic teeth on the glass jug is poor. I need a new blender now and I surely say there must be better choices.
I thought this machine was powerful and good. It looks great. They promote the powerful engine. But it is like having a car with a super powerful engine but you can't drive it because something else breaks down. I struck out twice with two machines and I am done buying this one at any price.
Far too weak May 26, 2008 I first used this blender in January 2006. We did not use it very heavily at all. I ordered new blades for it twice and now it won't blend anything. The new blades just about doubled the original price. I thought Braun had a good reputation, but I am throwing this blender away and I don't plan to purchase a Braun product again.
Blender breaks, otherwise I like it! April 26, 2008
I bought this blender because of good reviews on Consumer Reports and other sites, and bought it specifically to make food for my baby (as well as other uses). It worked very well for about 6 months, but then the white plastic piece at the base of the pitcher melted while I was blending on on high speed. I should note that making baby food requires blending/grinding grains and dried legumes on high for up to 2 minutes, but my baby food book says that blenders are designed to withstand this kind of work. I was disappointed. I did find that I could order a replacement piece (Amazon had it at the cheapest price overall), but I was not happy to spend more than expected on the blender.
