Poor quality January 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For that price and with that brand name you expect better! At least I did and so it went back as a return! Flimsy plastic lid to cover the watch, snooze button didn't look durable enough, too low contrast watch hands and face, not very readable
If you need a serious travel alarm, look elsewhere! Never been disappointed with BRAUN before, even design-wise they have been great, so this was the first time!

Works very well, but the alarm is unnecessarily louder than it has been in previous models.
Works well March 13, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I owned and used a Braun travel alarm for about twenty years, and it was as reliable as you could want. This newer model so far seems to be the same.
It is bulkier than my old one, but the cover is more secure. I wish the cover could lock in its open position as it does in its closed position. As it is, the cover often drags when you lift the clock, and the noise could disturb a lightly sleeping spouse.
As another reviewer pointed out, the light does not illuminate the dial well, but I've been able to make out the time anyway. This was true for my older model as well.
The alarm is sufficiently loud without being obnoxious. It does not really "crescendo" as the Braun Web site claims. Rather it, increases the number of beeps per second. That's not what I expected, but it works.
The controls are simple and fairly intuitive, better than the earlier model.
Surprizingly Disappointing January 15, 2007 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I more or less take it for granted that Braun designed products will be compact, concise, well-designed, properly conceived, functionally clear, simple and elegant. I own many, from coffeemakers to shavers and Braun has consistently lived up to these values.
I was surprised by the lack of them in this clock! As other reviews have said, the night light is awful, the light glancing off a silver face, not illuminating the black numbers well, and worse, totally missing the ill-conceived black hands. It takes some concentration, especially if you're sleepy, to read this thing at night.
Likewise, the thick and clumsy clamshell cover is not minimal and clean, but a dorky, weird-shaped piece of plastic covering a clock that is much larger than it needs to be. The alarm on/off button is very good, however, and the snooze/night light button is very easy to find and hit. Setting the time is equally easy to do, and as a clock during daytime, this unit is OK, but lacks some of the aesthetic crispness that I've come to expect from Braun.
I'm switching to the Seiko "Ultimate Alarm Clock" and see how that works out. It's frustrating because travel alarm clocks are hard to find - that is, most stores don't carry a lot of them to choose from, leaving you to fumble around spending money online.
Lacking features December 10, 2006 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
Using Braun alarm clocks for many, many years I am very disappointed with this model which is not worth the astonishingly high price. The clock is silver grey, the hands black. The dial illumination is totally insufficient; the black hands do not reflect the light but are casting very irritating dark shadows. It is impossible to read the time and by trying to figure out what is shadow and what are the hands, the light is off again. In addition, the press-down switch for the illumination makes a loud disturbing cracking noise when pressing it down. The only plus is, that the clockwork really is totally silent, no wonder, it has no second hand. The combination of a wonderfully silent clockwork lacking a second hand and lacking proper illumination makes it difficult to find out if the clock is working at all (if you need to know in the middle of the night).
