Product Description Love fresh soft butter for your toast, vegetables or muffins? This butter pot allows you to store softened butter at room temperature, simply by keeping fresh cool water in the base of the pot. The lid can be inverted on the table or counter when serving.About Emile Henry... In the Burgundy region of France is the legendary maker of fine French cookware named Emile Henry. There, potters still hand craft each piece from the local Burgundy Clay - one of the purest of clays. Containing no lead or cadmium, the clay is one of the best materials for baking and serving.
Amazon.com Review Ideal for kitchen or dining table, this pot keeps 8 ounces of butter soft and spreadable indefinitely. No magic is required. Pack soft butter into the pot's lid. Pour cold water into the pot's bottom. Invert the lid on top of the pot, and the cold water, rising above the level of the butter, will form a seal to ensure the butter doesn't spoil--as long as the water is changed every three to four days. The pot is microwave- and dishwasher-safe and measures 4-1/2 inches in diameter and 3-1/4 inches high. Since 1850, Emile Henry cookware and bakeware have been made in Burgundy, where a unique clay is kiln-fired into a ceramic unsurpassed for conducting and retaining heat. Prized worldwide, Emile Henry products come in a wide range of colors, from the earth tones (with creamy interiors) of the rustic Le Potier line to the bright hues (with white interiors) of the Couleurs line, of which this all-white butter pot is a gleaming example. Each piece is stamped with the year it was made and the initials of the craftsman responsible for its perfection and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Butter Pot August 15, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This butter pot is okay. It is not a good as the cook street butter boat, but it seems to do the job. The instructions are not that clear, I had to look them up on the internet. In short, put the butter in the lid, fill the bowl with cool water and then put the lid back into the bowl. The water and butter don't mix (oil and water). If your butter gets a little wet, don't worry it isn't bad or anything. Just remember to change the water every couple of days or your butter may go bad.
Love this butter pot! July 10, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My husband loves room temperature butter, but we don't use plastic ware and didn't like previous glass/ceramic butter dishes since they let in air and were messy. The water reservoir in this butter pot seals to keep out air, and isn't difficult to fill (holds just shy of two sticks) and clean.
Why in the world didn't I get one of these before?!? April 26, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
My family loves butter. We love soft butter so I've kept a stick of butter in the cupboard (our home remains around 73-76degrees) only to have to toss it out on occasion because the color changes, doesn't look as creamy as fresh, soft butter.
Enter the butter pot. It definitely is different. You store the butter in the top portion of the set. The top acts as a cover but when you open it, the butter container is inverted so that when you replace the lid / butter container back, it's immersed in water. You do have to replace the water every few days but no biggie.
Emile Henry's colors are fabulous!! Love it!! My only complaint are that I worry that some point, I'll drop it. I wish the lid portion was a smidge smaller so I can grab it with one hand confidently.
Best way to store butter January 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Butter stays fresh, out in the open and easy to spread.
