perfectionists dream!!! July 25, 2008 This product is so good, it made me a better woodworker!
I bought it to complete the set of products at this size. I had previously bought the other pieces, but held off and this final one for cost reasons.
Two days ofter it arrived, I had a situation where I had to build a large octagonal structure quickly. It not only had to be octagonal, but it needed to mate precisely with another object.
I am a fair woodworker, at best, but with the assistance of this product, I was able to create a very large octagon with virtually no slop in the corners that mated exactly with a pre-existing object. It was done quickly and with no errors that could not be attributed to used ineptitude.
About the same time, I had to cut a large number of plastic pieces to random but exact sizes for another project. I am certain that with a more ept operator, there would have been no errors in this project
It was useful and reliable beyond my fondest hopes. A must have for anal-retentive perfectionists!
Almost a excellent product! August 8, 2007 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got the rule and was dissapointed, it would be the best rule on the planet BUT it is too flimsey, a stiffer thicker metal would fix the problem. When you put the edge guide against the edge of a piece of wood the rule flexes and pulls the edge guide up and you get 1/16" play, if you place a long piece of flat stock on the rule it will stay flat. PAIN IN THE [...]!! especially when you try to slide and mark a line. Oh well live and learn.
Amazing Ruler April 21, 2007 I really cannot believe I am excited about a $40 ruler. You won't believe it either until you get one. The holes/slots in the ruler make getting the right measurement almost foolproof. To draw a line you just stick the pencil in the right hole and slide the whole thing along the board. It makes setting up hole centerlines a breeze. Again, I thought this was an outrageous price for a ruler - not one of the cooler tools you ever buy or feel comfortable bragging about to your buddies, but it really is a great tool and worth the money. I use it for a blade height gauge and a router bit depth gauge as well. I bought mine about a year ago and immediately wished I wouldn't have overlooked based on price alone.
Terrific marking tool August 9, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Anyway, this is very precise marking tool. I have used it to mark long rip lines, dowel holes, biscuit centers etc.. with precision. The concept is so simple you wonder why nobody had thought of it before Incra did. This is the 18" model, Incra also makes a 6" (which I own as well) and 12" models. The smaller one are less unwieldy to use on smaller work pieces. !
