Amazon.com Product Review Load, lift, and store up to 250 pounds of heavy items against the ceiling with the cable-lift storage rack from Racor. Without having to bust out the ladder, the rack lifts stored goods up to 8 feet in the air for storing against high ceilings. With 4 square feet of storage space, there's plenty of room for several large boxes, planters, hoses, tires, and more. Steel support cables offer optimal stability and are vinyl coated for rust resistance. Heavy-duty support beams ensure plenty of support for full loads. The system raises and lowers with the handy winding axle. Just to get you started; here's a list of some of the things you might put up there: file boxes, outdoor furniture, lawn mowers, big tools, snow throwers, large toys, canoes, kayaks, holiday ornaments, tires, ladders lumber, third row car seats and just about anything else you can imagine. --Brian D. We love this thing! September 25, 2008 My husband and I are both Army Officers and have a lot of gear and equipment that has up until now taken up a lot of the space in our garage. We got two of them, one for each of us; we're very pleased with the space we now have. It was not very difficult to install (just review the sketch that comes with the instuctions carefully).
Holds a Lot and Holds it well September 22, 2008 This is the coolest thing I've ever bought. I was considering buying a shed or wasting money on stupid solutions like that, but I finally found a place to put all of my stuff. This thing easily hangs a lot of stuff without breaking or squeaking. It stores up to 8 feet in the air and you don't have to worry about it crashing back down on you. Even my years of photos (I have a lot of boxes of them) were able to fit and be hung up there with ease. I'm so glad I got this thing, its really taken a lot of stress of me. I'm sure anyone who buys this will be just as happy as I am with it.
Recommended September 19, 2008 Great product and works well. I used it to put 2 kayaks side by side (flat on the bottoms, not on edge) and they fit perfectly. Observations: -finding the studs is painful on your neck. Get a good Zircon stud finder and spend the first night just marking carefully all the studs. -I used a Little Giant ladder to put these up and found it very useful, especially with the work platform to rest tools and hardware -do yourself a favor and get a 3rd Hand Support System (it's like an extra long ceiling jack). It will hold each brace in the middle while you drill/screw in the hardware. I couldn't have put it up without that (by myself).
Grat Heavy Lift September 1, 2008 I purchased the Racor Pro HeavyLift and have found it to be a good product. I did not use the heavy metal platform. Rather, I attached hooks with two 2x4s. I have the truck cap from my pick up truck resting on the 2 x 4s and raised it up to the ceiling. I am able to park my truck under the cap. When I want to attach the cap to my truck, I just back in and lower the cap. I found the long pole used to raise and lower the cap a lot of work. However, my cordless electric drill fits the first section of the pole. I then use the drill to raise or lower the cap.

I find this to be a pretty good product. The installation wasn't too difficult, although it did take several hours.
When the rack has near 200 lbs on it the difficulty in cranking it upward is fairly high. I have overcome this by leaving the plastic handle off of the bottom and attaching a heavy duty drill in its place. The drill make raising and lowering the platform a breeze.
I do wish it came with longer cables. My garage ceiling is a bit tall so in the lift's current setup when it is fully lowered it is still 3.5 - 4 feet off of the ground. I will eventually replace the the provided cables with longer ones.
