I bought this Nailer/Stapler to put down underlament. It worked very good with no problems and I would highly recommend it. I rate it excellent and it was a great price.

I was pleased with this tool for the first hour until I ran out of nails. As it turns out, it staples quite well with the included narrow-crown staples, but see below for nailing woes. I purchased this tool for occasional do-it-yourself use. Price was my major consideration, and I wanted to save money by buying a combination stapler and nailer. Here are the pros and cons...

pros:
adjustable exhaust
nice case (not mentioned in the description)
combo nailer and stapler (18gauge)
oil-free
good feel
quick-release to clear jams

cons:
most nails, including the ones packaged with it will jam OFTEN
makes a staple-size divot when nailing

My experience so far is that you will jam every other nail if you use the included nails. The channel seems just a bit too wide for 18-gauge nails and it partially fires a second nail almost every time that it fires. The staples, on the other hand, seem to be a bit wider, so they worked very well.

I tried the 1" brads that I had from my Arrow ET100M electric brad nailer, and they worked flawlessly. But I have yet to find any other nails that will work with this nailer. I tried Porter Cable and Grip Rite brands, and both brands jammed every other nail (or worse). (The Arrow brand nails seem to be a bit wider and that allows them to work without jamming).

I also noted that when sinking nails to depth, it will create a staple-sized divot instead of a nail-sized hole. This makes sense since the hammer has to be the size of a staple in order to drive staples and nails. It doesn't matter much to me because I will go back and putty-fill the nail divots anyway, and it's no greater effort to fill the larger divots than the smaller ones. But if the divot size is important to you, I would buy separate tools.

I originally gave this tool 4-stars. After the difficulties finding compatible nails, I have to downgrade it to a 1-star. I could give it 2 or 3 if it at least worked with the supplied nails, but this nailer, sadly, is not worth the paltry $40 I paid for it.
