Amazon.com Product Description The Freud Difference Freud manufactures some of the most innovative, technologically advanced saw blades in the world. To ensure that the highest quality products meet the toughest design standards, Freud owns and operates six manufacturing facilities in Western Europe. Freud is one of the few manufacturers of woodworking tools in the world that produces its own MicroGrain carbide with titanium, called TiCo -- a combination of titanium and cobalt. Freud develops different types of carbide for each application to maximize the cutting life and performance of the tool; and Freud also operates one of the most modern product development research centers in Europe. By overseeing the entire manufacturing process from start to finish, Freud guarantees some of the highest quality, most advanced products in the industry. About Freud's Dado Sets Whether you're a skilled professional or a weekend hobbyist, Freud has a dado for you. The SD608, Freud's Dial-A-Width Dado, has a patented dial system for easy and precise adjustments while offering extremely accurate cuts. The SD300 Series adds a level of safety not found in other manufacturers' dadoes, while the SD200 Series provides the quality of cuts you expect from Freud, at an attractive price. About the 6-Inch Professional Dado Set This kit gives you Freud's quality and craftsmanship in a stacked dado set, but at a wobble dado price. The negative hook angles make flat bottom grooves and virtually splinter-free cuts, and this dado has two outside blades with five two wing chippers. This makes it ideal for underpowered saws because it requires less power to feed. All blades and chippers come with Freud's anti-kickback design. This resharpenable set will produce grooves from 1/4 to 13/16-inch in 1/16-inch increments. This dado set comes with a shim set and carrying case as well as instructions on how to make basic dado sizes. Applications This set is ideal for creating flat-bottom grooves and virtually splinter-free cuts in hardwoods, softwoods, chip board, plywood, or laminate -- but it's not recommended for ferrous metals or masonry. Warranty This set is covered by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.
Amazon.com Review Freud's 6-inch professional dado set delivers a very smooth flat-bottomed groove. This stack, when used on table and radial-arm saws, cuts slots, grooves, dadoes, and rabbets in hardwood, softwood, or plywood with the same high level of finish quality. The blades are resharpenable. They've also been laser-cut and sport carbide tips. In addition, this stack has a feature that limits the amount of bite a tooth can take, reducing the risk of kickback--for this reason, in fact, Freud suggests this set for underpowered saws. We tested this stack along with Freud's 8-inch stack on our 3-horsepower Powermatic model 66 (plenty of power) and found the results satisfying: smooth, with very minimal splintering. Shims are also included in this set to help you microadjust your width. This stack is a great tool for the home hobbyist who prefers not to spend a lot of money but still wants quality results. --Dori Anvinson

Good Dado - but Does Not Fit Jet XactaSaw Deluxe! July 27, 2008 Great dado set - very high quality, flat-bottom dados. It does not fit the Jet Xacta Saw Deluxe tablesaw, however. While the tablesaw's dust shroud does have a semi-circular cutout, it is not big enough to accommodate the dado set's dial. If possible, you should check for fit on any saw with such a shroud before buying.
Infinitely adjustable, yet easy to use. July 21, 2008 I've used this extensively on my Grizzly 1023 table saw with great results. I would highly recommend this blade set to anyone. My advice on using it: * when you unbox the blades, measure the chipper thicknesses and label them "A", "B", "C", etc., according to the manual. There one that's thinner than the others, and it is required for certain thickness combinations; identifying it by sight is almost impossible. I wrote on them in silver Sharpie and it solved that problem. * mark the "zero" on the thickness adjusting dial. Turn it until the back of the dial is perfectly flush with the back of the blade and write a "0" above that tick mark (again, silver Sharpie works great). That way, when the manual says "a 1/2 inch dado is these three blades plus four clicks" you'll know that you're really at four and not, say, three or five.
great dado set for cabinetry work June 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This my third Freud blade and I agree with all the reviews about how clean and smooth the cuts are. The quality of this blade is excellent! The case is plastic and uses dimpled plastic to separate the outer blades and chippers so there are no damage to the carbide tips.
Once you use the right combination of chippers per the chart, it cleanly and easily cuts through oak to particle board. No chipping or tear out.
The only improvement to this dado blade would be to stamp the chipper with its thickness. Otherwise it is a very good purchase.
Splinters, I'm not happy. February 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am using this dado set to build cabinets that are made of quarter sawn red oak. The blade works fine if you cut with the grain but is nearly useless for cutting tenons. Even when using a backer board the wood splinters at the ends. Also, the bottom of the cut is uneven. If you want quality results, look elsewhere.
Good Dado Set January 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought and used on my Ryobi 10" table saw. It makes nice cuts through oak. I would buy this set again. If you buy a cheaper set, make sure they are rated for the RPM of your saw. This set is rated for a Max 11,000 RPM.
