JDS Company 10-16 1000/1600 CFM Air-Tech 2000 Air Filtration System June 28, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Top of shipping container had been removed exposing the unit & poorly taped back on with cellophane packing tape, ultimatly left flopping in the wind. One large dent in the side of the unit, corners of the unit were bent & rivet was sheered off(apparently dropped) such that the filters couldn't be removed. Several large scratches that gouged deep into the sheet metal. I spent over an hour straightening & reforming corners to make the thing operational!
Quality of the unit itself was acceptable, but I wouldn't pay suggested retail for it. Shipping was free & I can see why!!
Probably the last big ticket item I will purchase from mail order!
Save yourself some grief! buy locally!!

The woodshop that I have worked in four the past four years is a college woodshop that is large, often used by many students at once, and also has an extensive and powerful central dust collection system. Keeping in mind the difference between this shop and "home" shops, the application of the JDS Air Filter is to collect the fine dust that the central dust collection system missed. This specific application may be different from home shops but the environment is as good as any to rigorously test the JDS system. The JDS air filtration system is large and heavy and requires at least two people to install. The mounting harware was convienent but in the case of this shop that has exposed floor joists, the eye bolts could be mounted on 16" centers so no bracing is required. If changing filters saturated with dust is an indication that this beast works, then it clearly filters the air. However, the trim that holds the first filter on the unit is a bit flimsy and has only a friction fit. I would suggest sturdier trim and a better way to attach the trim because though it has not happened yet, constant removal of the trim could wear out the fit or bend the trim. Noise is not an issue and the two speeds are nice. I will say that I have cleaned dust off the top of the unit. This, however is probably due to overworking the unit rather than it effectiveness. All in all, a bit pricy and large but in over five years of use, none of the working parts have failed nor has any maintence been performed save the filter changing. The quality is evident.
