Amazon.com If bought separately, these tools would cost $508. Porter-Cable makes some of the best pneumatic tools in the industry, and these fasteners are three prime examples. The 16-gauge is sturdy, compact, lighter and quieter than you'd expect with a nice, comfortable grip even smaller hands can get around. It's got great balance, easy depth-of-drive adjustment, and it's a pleasure to use. Similarly, the 18-gauge is light but rugged, comfortable and maneuverable, even in awkward places or after long runs. The stapler, well-balanced and comfortable to aim, uses standard 18-gauge, 1/4-inch crown staples from 1/2- to 1 inch long. Some other features we like on all three shooters: a special hardened driver blade, a sequential fire trigger (a bump fire mechanism is available free from Porter-Cable if you prefer that), a visual reload indicator so you don't waste time firing when you're out of fasteners, a safety located behind the driver guide for driving in tight spaces and an easy-to-adjust depth guide for perfect countersinking. They all have directional exhausts, too. The pancake-style compressor has a six-gallon tank and easily runs two guns at the same time. It's light, portable and doesn't want much from you in terms of maintenance--it's oil-free and Teflon-coated. Some other reasons to like it: a high-flow regulator, an easy-to-read air pressure gauge, automatic thermal overload protection, an industrial-style quick-connect body in the air outlet, and a long-life motor with replaceable brushes. An integrated handhold makes it easy to tote, too. Contractors, remodelers, furniture makers, trim carpenters and do-it-yourselfers will find this combo indispensable (and a great deal, too).--Kris Jensen-Van Heste Technical Details NS100A stapler: Uses 18-gauge, 1/4-inch crown staple, 1/2 to 1 inch, with a magazine capacity of 100 staples. great start October 16, 2007 great kit for first time air tool user. good power & excellent guns. compressor is a tad loud.
Better Than Expected - Great Deal - Great Quality January 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm an amateur woodworker and I thought this kit would be a nice addition to my shop. The quality of the nailers is very good. The depth adjustment works perfect for hard and soft wood. So far, no misfiring or jamming at all. I'm using this much more than I thought I would. To my surprise the little compressor hardly runs at all. It has no problems filling up the tires on my motorhome. It also keeps my impact wrench running to my surprise. I like having everything in a complete kit including cases for each gun and some nails and staples for each gun to get started. As you might expect the compressor is very loud. For $300 I'm very happy.
I was going to buy all the pieces individually including a much bigger compressor thinking that for the money this kit would not be adaquate. That would have been a mistake.
Remember to break in the compressor per the instructions.
Excellent Start January 4, 2007 I am a hobbyist woodworker. My first use of this kit was to put up crown molding. Installation of about 250' utilized primarily the finish nailer, although I did use the brad nailer a little on scarf joints. Both nailers operated flawlessly. I had no jams and found them both to be easily adjustable and straight forward to use.
So far they demonstrate excellent functionality.
great for home projects and small remodels November 10, 2006 I bought this compressor because of the reviews I read and I was not disappointed. It has provided excellent performance for baseboard installing, shelf building and door trim. I'll never use a hammer again! It is loud but of course it doesn't run continuously and it's not unbearably loud. Great buy with the tools that come with it. It's relatively easy to move around by a medium size female - wheels would have been a nice addition though. I recommend it.
CFFN250 Compressor November 10, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The compressor is compact and light but very loud...too loud really for use in the same room.
My unit arrived with a defective high pressure cut-off switch and had to be returned.
