Amazon.com Product Description
The 2x4 Basics workbench assembles to any size and fits anywhere. Shops and garages come in all shapes and sizes, and as a consequence, standard prefabricated workbenches are often too big or too small. This workbench customizes to fit any space. Featuring a comfortable 36-inch-high work surface and large under-bench storage shelves, the workbench is super easy to assemble--you just add any length lumber you want. Better yet, all you do is make simple straight cuts--no miters, no angles. The result is a customized, rugged workbench that's capable of holding up to 1,000 pounds per shelf. And because it's so versatile, you can also use it as a hobby table, power-tool stand--you name it.

5 out of 5 stars perfect!   October 6, 2008
I love this workbench. One of my best purchases ever. I looked into other premade benches and none can compare to the price or ability to be custom fit to your exact needs.

This bench has completely turned around my garage. Now everything is organized and easy to find. I find myself going into the garage just looking for stuff to fix!

You won't be dissappointed. You can save a little money and build one similar without the kit, but the kit saves you a ton of time because it was so easy to make and the finished product looks very professional and very clean. And the bench is ROCK solid. I hammer stuff on it and it's super sturdy.

5 out of 5 stars EASY BUILD WORKBENCH   September 24, 2008
This was a great purchase! The best way to review before purchase is to go to the manufacturers website and view the photos submitted by others who have bought and purchased it.
As for the bench itself, it was goof-proof. Bought the lumber at local big box store, had them cut the plywood, and it was together in less than three hours.
Also, the price on amazon.com was lower than MSRP!
Please keep in mind that NO wood comes with the kit, it is legs and screws and shelf brackets only. The same thing could be done using only wood, but when using the kit, all of the measurements are given to you and the finished project looks very nice and well made.

4 out of 5 stars Nice, sturdy bench   September 20, 2008
Assembly was easy, but you'd have to be pretty clever to assemble it by yourself. Get another person to help, if you can- another pair of hands go a long way. Other than that, it all just pops in place and screws together. I like the versatility of being able to buy/cut your lumber to your own preferences, for your bench to best fit your needs. All & all I'm quite happy with this bench kit. I'd have given it 5 stars if it was $10-$15 cheaper. Quality lumber isn't exactly free, so this isn't the cheapest workbench you can find. Even though the build quality will be better than a Chinese-made workbench of equal $$, you DO have to build it yourself. Still, I would buy again. And probably will.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to assemble   September 6, 2008
I really like this workbench kit. I assembled it for a bench in my basement. It was very easy to assemble. I didn't even need to cut the 2x4 pieces or the bench top. My local Lowe's cut them to size for me. The only improvement I would suggest is to use screws with a star drive rather than the phillips drive screws included.

I liked the first kit so much I have ordered a second kit for the garage.

5 out of 5 stars Best Workbench Around!   August 29, 2008
Since you can define the size of this bench, this made it the perfect one for me. I bought three of these things and have all of my benchtop tools mounted on them. When you eventually ruin a top, it is $20 to run down to Home Depot and get a new top for it. I set mine up with only one shelf below instead of two so that I could stack larger items. This is a much better bench, and cheaper than buying the cheap metal junk from Sears.
