5 out of 5 stars Great, simple, effective product   November 30, 2008
Great product at a good price (if you shop around.) I have been using these exact ear plugs for about eight years. I worked at an airport around running jet engines and now use them regularly to shoot skeet and handguns. I liked them well enough to stick with them and bought a box of 200 pair to last awhile.

Very effective at reducing noise and comfortable to wear. I haven't worn them for any more than a couple hours at a time though, but they are perfect for my uses.

5 out of 5 stars Far and away the most comfortable   November 25, 2008
These earplugs are a little tough to put it because you have to roll the tips very tightly to get them to slide into the ear canal, but once they're in, they work and they are amazingly comfortable. I use them for noise when I am trying to study (very effective) and for my partner's occasional loud snoring and I find them to be far and away the most comfortable of all the ones I've tried. Not quite as effective for snoring as the wax ones, but they also don't stick to your hair and pull it out like the wax ones do. Also, the only ones I've used that do not irritate the ear canal after being left in for a long time.

5 out of 5 stars EAR PLUGS   November 25, 2008
Once you get accustomed to wearing them they are great for sleeping.
I use a CPAP machine and the huffing of the machine kept me awake. Now I can sleep soundly.
I even use them for shooting at the range. They must be inserted properly to be the most effective.

5 out of 5 stars Comfortable Fit   November 24, 2008
I would definitely recommend this product. I use these daily for my job and must say they are very comfortable. I actually buy these instead of using the ear plugs supplied by my employer. Satisfactory delivery time and available for a reasonable price.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for Commutes on Trains, Subways, Etc.   November 12, 2008
As a daily commuter on Chicago's El, I found myself realizing how much I reading I could get done when the train was quiet. By this, I don't just mean light reading such as cheesy Robert Jordan fantasy novels; I mean heavy stuff like Kant--stuff I actually had to think about in order to comprehend it.

After forgetting my iPod and using earplugs (which I had in my coat pocket from a weekend of target practice with a relative), I was seriously amazed by how quiet it was on the train.

A caveat: I seem to remember those earplugs (which were also orange) as being better ones than these, although they're probably more likely to be at a specialized store. I first bought the Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lite Earplugs, but found they were too small for my ear canals. While noises were muffled with those, there didn't really seem to be much point in wearing them. Those earplugs do, however, have an advantage in that they're easier to take out. They were also ever so slightly more comfortable.

I then bought these earplugs, however, and was happy to learn that they largely shut out the world. I was able to ignore all the people yakking on their cell phones as though they were in a field in Montana, the noise of the train moving was pretty much removed altogether, and conversations were literally so muted that I could only see people's mouths moving. I imagine that there are no earplugs that will absolutely drown out everything, though, and I can still hear the voice on the intercom announcing each stop (which might actually be a good thing).

Today, I leave my iPod at home and I feel like my life is actually enriched by being able to read on the way to work. In addition, because I can't hear all the yakking and occasional yelling, I arrive at work in a much more peaceful and less agitated state of mind. Even if you don't think those sounds really bother you (as I, in fact, believed), it's amazing to witness how you feel when you arrive at your destination. It's a very potent sensation of peace.

Highly recommended, especially for anyone who takes a subway or elevated train to work.

Main criticism: Not very easy to take out if you have them in too far.
