Very handy February 20, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have at least a dozen of these. They're very useful for holding a stop in place or for jigs or to hold something lightly while applying larger clamps or even to hang up your coat. They are just the right size for such purposes--the "micro" clamps are too small (although they do have their place) and the regular too heavy to be convenient. They can be manipulated with one hand, which makes them more convenient than "F" or "C" clamps.
They aren't substitutes for larger clamps--they're "mini" after all. Clamping force is not huge, but enough to be very useful for many purposes.
Action is almost but not quite parallel--clamping down will sometimes shift one of the pieces being clamped--this hasn't been a problem for me but it's something to be aware of. If you absolutely need a parallel-action clamp these aren't the right clamp for you.
One thing to do when you get them. Give the bar a thorough wipedown with solvent or degreaser--half of mine when they came had grease on them and they slipped as a result. Once I cleaned the grease off they worked much, much more satisfactorily.
One man shop, these are a must January 18, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I do lots of small boxes and drawers. These clamps are perfect to use one handed to hold the small sides in place while I get stronger clamps in place. They're not strong enough for glue-ups. But they will keep the parts in place while you put the screw clamps on.When there's no one around to help you'll be glad to have these!
