 This does not fit all Sears Craftsmans Shop Vacs August 30, 2010

I have an older taller model shop Vac, ok ok Ill try to find the model I think I saved .. CRAFTSMAN SHOP VAC - Sears Craftsman Shop Vac(Model 113 .. 178450 7amp) .. It has a rubber seal around the edge of the bottom of the orginal filter the was suppose to keep in place, but always came off, esp since they were not supported with wire back then.
However, this came with the bottom plug (which was not listed as being included .. good mistake), using a larger washer and screw I think I can attach it to the bottom support and it will be nice and snug, I havent done it yet .. but appeared to fit size wise fine.
I gave it a four because it appears to fit snug, but is not made for this model and they should list the models it fits and does not fit .. so Im having to a bit of work to get it to fit, drill hole in orginal buttom filter support that the orginal rubber gasket fit around. So extra work would be find right size drill bit, attach to cordless drill, drill hole, take drill bit out replace with phillips tip, after finding correct size screw and washer drill it carefully on. If my tools where organized it would be much easier .. still not what I purchased. But, Im ill, so tools are all over and I do not recall where anything is .. it looks like thats the case until I get well..who knows when.

Fits nicely on my rigid shop vac. I'd definitely buy it again when needed and recommend that you do the same.

Sooner or later you're going to need a new filter for your shop vac. Mine is a Rigid, and the filter finally wore out after sucking up tons of water, dust, dirt, leaves, and basically anything that would fit up the hose. Rather than buying a new vac, I went searching around for a new filter, and found this guy. It's cheaper than getting a new vac, though mine is getting a bit old. Anyways, replacing the old filter was a snap. This filter fit like a glove, and my vac is now back in action and ready for more abuse.

I have one of the old 12-gallon Ridgid Wet/Dry Vacs.
This filter fit it like a glove.
It has the holding plate fashioned in. You only need
the plastic screw cap to hold it in place.

As per an earlier review, I too have a 16 gallon Craftsman shop vac that utilizes a "red-stripe" filter. The vac is about 2 + years old so I was probably due for new filter. Even though the measurements of this replacement filter are slightly different than the Craftsman original filter, this replacement fit just fine, but did require that I use the original cap from the old filter instead of the one provided so it could be secured the the appropriate filter location on the vacuum. No problem - it fit just fine. I am very happy with this product and would definitely buy one again versus paying an outrageous amount to buy one from Sears.
