Amazon.com Product Description
About this Sawzall Model
The 10 amp Sawzall from Milwaukee is durable and super light -- weighing in at just 7 pounds, for the best power-to-weight ratio in its class. This small but tough saw offers a variable speed trigger that sends the blade from 0-2,800 strokes per minute, with a 3/4-inch stroke length and a Quik-Lok blade clamp for fast, tool-less blade changes.

The 6509-22 is chock full of convenience features that will make it a go-to pick that never gathers dust in your garage. Its rubber boot provides superior gripping for real control and exceptional accuracy, and the adjustable shoe gives you longer blade life and more cut control. You can even clamp the blades upside down for special cutting circumstances. Double insulated with a double-bearing wobble plate mechanism for smoother handling, this saw also boasts a heavy-duty 'S' jacket and an 8-foot, 2-wire cord.

This Sawzall uses standard 1/2-inch shank Sawzall blades, and two are included with this kit -- plus a carrying case to keep everything together and organized.

Applications
The 6509-22 is the perfect choice for any task that requires a reciprocating saw; and depending on your Sawzall blade choice, you'll find that it cuts easily through wood and plastics, metal, pipes, and even wood with nails in it.

Choosing a Sawzall Blade
When selecting a Sawzall blade, first consider your project. Each Sawzall blade style has a series of icons on its packaging -- and these icons demonstrate the materials which the blades are best-suited to cut. There's a separate icon for a variety of materials, including wood, plastics, wood with nails, and metal.

Next, decide on the proper blade shape to suit your project. Sloped blades are best for plunge cutting, straight blades are ideal for edge cutting, and scroll blades are used for cutting curved or circular shapes.

Finally, be sure to pick a blade with the proper Teeth Per Inch (TPI). See the chart below for more information.

5 out of 5 stars Great Little Saw   June 26, 2008
My wife got me this saw for father's day. Wow, it made cutting branches from an overgrown tree so much easier!

5 out of 5 stars Definitely a Cut above   June 24, 2008
I've been doing a lot of work on my house for the past few years. Whenever I would get some spare time, I was replacing baseboard or stair treads with oak. I never had a sawzall, so I was really making a lot of extra work for myself. I finally purchased the Milwaukee reciprocating saw and I couldn't be happier. The blades snap in and out easily, the speed of the blade is easily controlled by the trigger switch, and the motor is powerful enough to get the job done. I wish that I would have bought this years ago.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent well balanced saw   June 13, 2008
The saw was a replacement for an 18yr old DeWalt which bit the dust. In comparison to the DeWalt the Sawzall is much smoother and better balanced.

5 out of 5 stars Product as advertised   June 12, 2008
This product had received a lot of excellent Amazon feedback. My feedback is the same as the others. Completely satisfied with the product. I am a casual user - when it is called upon it sawz very well.

5 out of 5 stars The sawzall is one of the essential tools in my toolbox.   May 20, 2008
I bought the 6509 when I broke the screw down chuck on my very old, hand-me-down, blue saw. It wasn't worth the cost to repair, so I bough the Milwaukee. I guess all of the new saws have keyless chucks now. The chuck on the Milwaukee is easy to use and grips the blade securely. I don't hesitate to change the blade when it's dull and used up, or when I change materials. I also store the saw without a blade even though the case doesn't require that. (I didn't like the keyless chuck on the yellow saw. The flip lever is plastic, and will eventually wear out or break.)

The 3/4" stroke length is shorter than my old saw, but it's not really slower with the right blade. Using the right blade for the material being cut is very important. Vibration may be a little better with the shorter stroke, and that's good for accuracy and ease of use.

I strongly recommend having an assortment of blades in various lengths. If you're seriously cutting, buy multipacks. A sharp blade makes a tremendous difference. Also, use the correct length blade for your job. Too long, and you may cut something you don't want to damage. Too short, and you can't bend the blade when you want to cut flush or blind.

I wish the trigger had a lighter spring, or a trigger lock, or a longer area to squeeze with 2 fingers. My hand does get a little tired holding the trigger with one finger. Perhaps the spring will relax a little over time. I'd also like a little longer throw for better variable speed control.

The lighter weight is welcome when cutting overhead, at awkward angles, or one handed, but there's still plenty of power. Solid metal and thick plastic make for a very well built saw. I also like the plastic case with metal latches very much.

If you do demolition all day long, then perhaps a heavier saw with more features would be appealing, but I'm very happy with the 6509.
