1 out of 5 stars doesn't fit brand new 18V lithium-ion drill!   November 15, 2008

Part of the reason I chose Milwaukee was reviews saying the batteries were all compatible. This item (V18 3 amp hour LI battery, 48-11-1830) claims to fit all Milwaukee tools except 1108, 3108, 5364, and 6516. Well, that's nonsense. My new 2601 drill has a completely different 18 volt lithium-ion battery, and the charger that comes with the drill isn't compatible with the spare battery I ordered. BUYER BEWARE - update as of Nov 18: Milwaukee confirms the new "compact" tools use a completely different 18 volt battery. New tools require 48-11-1828 or 48-11-1815, old tools will fit this battery (48-11-1830). They're not making it easy to know which batteries will fit, and the "customer service" person I spoke to at Milwaukee said they will not swap for a compatible battery... nor will they update their WRONG packaging that says the old batteries are compatible with all 18 volt tools. Quoting now: "Take it up with the seller." Not a good attitude.

3 out of 5 stars bad batteries   November 1, 2008

I just bought a milwaukee cordless drill 18v. It worked good for about the first three months. After that it rapidly started to decline in performance. I am caught inbetween a rock and a hard place cuz I don't know if I want to buy the battery witch may be a flunk or just buy a different drill. My drill right now is totally out of commission. I dont know if its the batteries or what but I know that they should not be going out that quickly. I use mine everyday as sheet metal mechanic so I guess I need a drill that is a little more professional than Milwaukee.

1 out of 5 stars Battery 5, Milwaukee ZERO   September 4, 2008

This is the same battery Milwaukee was selling for $54.00 3 months ago!!!
First they screw us with crappy overpriced NiCads that don't work for crap, then when they finally make a decent replacement battery they double the price on us??? I will never buy or recommend another peice of Milwaukee junk, and will replace my 15-20 Milwaukee hand tools with DeWalt as the batteries die off. SHAME ON YOU MILWAUKEE!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars move over energizer bunny, Red raves start here!!!!!!!   August 20, 2008

This is a typical Milwaukee tool. A lot of power in a small package.
I loaned this battery along with my Milwaukee impact driver to a friend of mine who built a 24 x 24 deck using composite deck boards with joists on 12" centers. He used it for 5 days on the original battery charge driving about half of the over 1200 stainless hold down screws. With the Lithium Ion battery this thing is the energizer bunny of impact drivers. I am very impressed with these batteries. It is nice to be able see how much "juice" is in them so you can top them off if you are starting a large project.

I just purchased the saw kit and extra battery and really put the sawzall to work dropping dead scrub oak trees of 6-10", limbing and cording them with a ten inch pruning-type blade...Lots of power and Love the low battery reader. I did have one battery heat up [hot to touch and too hot to charge; I hope I haven't killed it. This would be a worrisome concern with my porter cable or makita...we'll see... The batteries are more powerful but last much less time than my two previous tools above. I don't see this as a liability; I will soon purchase a three bay charger if I find I really need it. I have about seven hours of actual use on three batteries used on sawzall, circ saw, and drill. I do remodel work [30 years] so these puppies get real and daily use......OK, It's about 4 months since above review, and the battery that heated up shows no problems. Yes, the batteries are extremely strong and go fairly fast, but I still am mostly and easily working well with 3 batteries and one single gang charger. Thanks Milwaukee...
