About Stanley AntiVibe Hammers
Stanley AntiVibe hammers are made with the professional and serious DIYer in mind. Made of one-piece double forged steel head and handle for swing and durability, the hammers feature a patented tuning fork design that helps reduce harmful vibrations. The ergonomically designed handles, with the rubber grip molded directly onto the shaft, allow for multiple grip positions. The handles also have a specially textured grip for improved performance in wet conditions and an enlarged handle design that helps reduce gripping fatigue. 5 out of 5 stars Good hammer   September 24, 2008
This is a good hammer and is nice to grip. Does the job and feels nice.

3 out of 5 stars A very long hammer   July 29, 2008
This hammer is heavy and long. It doesn't feel balanced and also feels a little akward. I am not sure why they made it so long. Not easy to use especially for a woman.

1 out of 5 stars Antivibe? Ringing drives me nuts!   January 15, 2006

First, this is a very comfortable hammer (grip, balance, and easy on the elbow). The comfort comes at the expensive of keeping the vibration in the hammer.

After every strike, the hammer continues to ring for a few seconds. I thought I had a 5 star hammer until I helped a friend build a shed. My elbow felt great, but the continuous ringing for 2 days was enough to drive me insane! Even my friend was affected by the ringing while working several feet away.

He had the 20-ounce Antivibe and it does not experience any ringing. I headed to Lowes to buy a new hammer and tested these two models in the store. I sampled several of the Antivie hammers on the shelf and the 16oz/20oz ringing/not ringing held true.

If you can handle the extra weight, the 20oz Antivibe is a great hammer. It dampens the vibrations in a split-second. If you need a 16oz, I'd continue to look elsewhere if you need to drive more than a dozen nails per project.

5 out of 5 stars Better than expected   September 6, 2005

This really is a great hammer, and far better than I needed. A welcome surprise. The antivibe is excellent for me since I have some minor nerve problems in my right arm from years on the computer. It's comfortable to grip and I'm just pleased with it.

5 out of 5 stars Fix or Break,,your choice.   August 31, 2005

I buy my hammers 2 at a time, one for the shop and one for me to lose on the jobsites. I shop carefully for all of my tools and a hammer is a major player, useful every day. When you look at this hammer, you will notice that the handle has a definite curve. It also has an enlarged end. This is very important,it allows you to grip this hammer (at any point on the handle)with much less effort than a straight handle(common on wooden handles). Also, the soft feeling rubber that covers the handle, makes it even easier to grip. These features reduce fatigue and the potential for stress and strain related injury. 16oz. hammers are a good choice for light to medium framing jobs and trim work. While this or any hammer works well for demolition, I prefer my 28oz Stanley. The downside of that big so and so is,,When you and I strike ourselves;however unintentially, that 28 does a lot more damage. Straight claws are much more suited for demolition. You can swing full throttle with a stright claw and sink the claws into just about anything used in construction, RESTRAIN yourself from wacking your help. If you watch CSI then you already know that you might not get away with it.
