solid October 10, 2008 This is an excellent quality product, durable and functional. The grip alone is reason enough to buy it, fitting into your hand perfectly and with comfort not typical at this price point.
SWEET KNIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! September 12, 2008 this knife is durable and awesome if your going to get a knife get this one
Good knife, good value, terrific company. July 17, 2008 Although it isn't a top-of-the-line knife, the gator rubber handle is, simply put, amazing. I've used this knife for almost anything and I've never had a problem with it slipping. Whether covered in water, oil, or even animal fat (from gutting a deer at single digit temps) I've never had a problem with this knife.
The only drawback I've found is that the knife seems to go dull much more quickly than any of my other knives... despite what I do to keep it in tip-top shape.
Better than I thought it was going to be. April 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The company where my mom works gave all the employees this knife when we wrapped up a big job a few years ago. She gave hers to me. I was suprized at how well the grips feel. Not only because the rubber-like material is soft yet sturdy, but also because of it's size and shape. It's quite a bit bigger than most other 3-1/2" folders, it really feels beefy in your hands. As for the blade....it's a Gerber, so you know it's a great blade and that it is EXTREMELY sharp. Now that this exact model is out of production, the price is really good right now too. My friend likes mine so much, I'm thinking of buying one for him, to save him from 'accidentally' pocketing mine. Actually, I should buy two.....one for him and another one for me to stab him for taking my first one. Hahahahaha.

Gerber's Gator series of folding knives are famous for their unique handle, it is made of a rubber like polymer that gives you a great slip proof grip, even when wet. This particular model is made famous for the fact that Bear Grylls has used it in several of his Man vs Wild episodes, and is also featured on the cover of the Season 1 DVD.
The combo blade length is long enough to provide a useful serration section. Most other shorter blades compromise too much, meaning you don't have enough serrations in the blade to cut effectively with a back and forth motion.
The only drawbacks are very minor, it uses a lower grade 420HC blade that doesn't stay as sharp as 154CM or S30V which are more expensive, but for the price the 420HC blade on this knife is acceptable. The blade is also not perfectly centered into the handle when closed, again, an acceptable drawback when considering the price.
Overall I'm very pleased with this folder and I'm pleased to have it in my collection.
